The beta version of the FaceRig Avatar Software I’ve been following was released on August 29, 2014. I installed it for the first time on September 1. There have been regular updates since launch. There was a new beta version yesterday and I am expecting another version update later today. I have not done any testing for the past 24 hours because of other commitments but am already looking forward to my next testing go-round over the weekend ahead. To stay up with the updates, I’ve learned that I need to follow the FaceRig discussion thread in the Steam Community. Here is a video produced by one of the beta testers I found interesting, particularly because of the Skype info near the end. If you also watch the music video he produced you can get an idea of how the avatars could be used for karaoke. Since I’m a member of SingSnap, I’m eager to try the FaceRig software with their video karaoke song publishing option.

FaceRig Software Update
Five days ago in my post about the FaceRig Crowdfunding Campaign nearing public beta, I had no idea how fast the FR software development team was moving. This is the latest video update posted to their YouTube channel. It is really beginning to look like the software will be out for public trial before the end of August. Personally, I think the software is going to be a game changer in storytelling and successful online product selling programs, not to mention the hit it will be with the video gamer communities.
FaceRig, a software program that aims to enable anyone with a webcam to digitally embody awesome characters. The output can be recorded as a movie or streamed to Skype, Twitch, Google Hangouts or any service that traditionally uses a webcam in real time.
